Die Ironie - "if you'd like it put more simply” - ist sehr plump; "more accurately” ware eine bessere Wortwahl gewesen. Die Ironie wird verstärkt durch die absolute Unverständlichkeit des Satzes. Ob er in der Tat das bedeutet, was die Duchess behauptet, läßt sich nur nach einer systematischen grammatisch-stilistischen Analyse herausfinden, für die wir zunächst das grammatische Rüstzeug bereitstellen wollen. Wir bedienen uns dabei primär der klassischen Comprehensive Grammar von 1985 (CompGr) und der jüngeren Cambridge Grammar von 2002 (CGr), gelegentlich auch der Longman Grammar von 1999 (LGr). | |
