| 520 | 3 | |a When learning a language the prepositional links can cause considerable problems. These links are only insufficiently documented in German dictionaries. The dictionary project presented here is based primarily on a collection of notes, representing the work of many years. It is more a descriptive rather than a prescriptive dictionary. Varying grammatical dependencies are subsumed, under the deliberately broadly defined term of "prepositional link": Prepositional objects (Hoffen auf etwas/hoping for something), prepositional attributes (Pfusch an der Frau/shoddy work on women); furthermore, the occasional, in the context of practical linguistic aspects, attributive determinations (eine Reise nach Berlin/a journey to Berlin - ins schöne Berlin/into beautiful Berlin). The articles are in alphabetical order. The feasible prepositions are clearly arranged in alphabetical order for each caption - together with details of valency, comments on meaning and numerous citations of competency and qualified examples. | |
