Since coronary artery disease was ruled out angiographically, the assumed pathophysiological mechanism for myocardial malperfusion was intermittend coronary vasospasm and thrombosis. There were several thrombophilic risk factors detectable (heterozygous factor V Leiden, low levels of antithrombin III, protein S deficiency), whose possible impact in this rare but severe clinical condition is discussed. | |
