   <subfield code="a">This work consists of solutions to various dislocation-inclusion interaction problems. Each is posed as a plane elasticity problem of an infinite elastic region, referred to as the matrix, containing a two-phase elliptical inclusion with elastic properties differing from those of the infinite region. An edge dislocation acts at an arbitrary point, either in the matrix, or in the inclusion. The problem is written in terms of Muskhelishvili's complex potentials, and simplified by a conformal mapping which transforms the confocal elliptical contours into concentric circles. Continuity of traction and displacement are required on all material interfaces. An iterative solution technique is developed for the case when the dislocation is in the outermost region, and when the dislocation is the innermost region. It was determined that under certain conditions, the presence of the interfacial zone can have a profound effect upon the stress field in the matrix and in the inclusion.</subfield>
