   <subfield code="a">The relative thermoluminescence efficiencies (k) for alpha (241Am) with respect to beta (90Sr) radiation using fine grains in the range 1-8 µm were determined for CaF2:Tm (TLD-300), CaF2:Dy (TLD-200), CaSO4:Tm (0.05 mol.%) and CaSO4:Dy (0.05 mol.%). The k values for the dosimetry peak of CaF2:Tm (518 K), CaF2:Dy (473 K), CaSO4:Tm (493 K) and CaSO4:Dy (493 K) are estimated to be 0.78, 0.41, 0.26 and 0.28 respectively. The observation of a very high k value for the 518 K TL peak in CaF2:Tm lends support to the earlier speculation of a TL trap which captures more than one charge carrier during irradiation.</subfield>
