   <subfield code="a">The use of the HANDI-TEPC, designed for radiation protection purposes, in high energy pulsed fields of mixed radiation such as those encountered around high energy particle accelerators may raise many problems related to intensity effects. To evaluate the effects of dose rate on the response of the HANDI-TEPC, the detector has been investigated at different dose rates in reference gamma and neutron fields, as well as in a high energy pulsed field of mixed radiations at CERN. The results of this study indicate the dose rates above which the intensity effects become pronounced and thus require correction.</subfield>
