   <subfield code="a">The radiation exposure to personnel in cardiac angiography and cardiac angioplasty are evaluated both from phantom measurements and from measurements during clinical examinations. One set of phantom measurements was performed with one anthropomorphic phantom simulating the patient and one simulating the physician. Measurements were made using TL dosemeters on the surface of, and distributed inside, the 'physician'. Radiation protection devices were used as during clinical examinations. The distribution of the measured absorbed dose in the abdomen is somewhat smaller. An X ray barrier mounted close to the patient may reduce the effective dose by (50%. Measurements during clinical examination indicate that phantom studies tend to under estimate the actual radiation doses received by personnel. This is probably due to the movements of the personnel during the examination.</subfield>
