   <subfield code="a">Simultaneous measurements of the neutron and photon dose using thermoluminescence detectors of the type TLD-300 by means of the two main glow peaks reveal and inconsistency in the determination of the response coefficients in the radiation field of a 14.1 MeV therapy unit. Evaluation of the neutron sensitivity relative to that for photons results in a systematic variation with the depth in the phantom. This variation can be reproduced in a first approximation by a modified method of linear regression, if in addition to the primary 14.1 MeV neutron component a second one from scattered neutrons of approximately half of this energy is assumed. The observed inconsistency can be attributed to the variation of the neutron spectrum with the position in the phantom and is essentially suppressed by using 1.5 mm thick Teflon instead of A-150 as encapsulating material for TLD-300. In consequence, the photon sensitivities hi for both glow peaks turn out to be 1.0 and the two neutron sensitivities ki in A-150 material are independent of the position in the phantom.</subfield>
