   <subfield code="a">An ultrastructural study of the specialized structural secretory granules observed in the mouse ventral prostate was conducted by electron microscopy. The granules were distributed from the supranuclear to the apical portion of the epithelial cells. Their structures were round or slightly indented and were enclosed with a unit membrane. The inner space was filled with several, small tubule-like structures. The transverse sections of these tubules were formed by a single circle, by concentric circles or by one or more layers coiled inside one another. The longitudinal feature was formed by one or more parallel electron-dense lines separated from one another by electron-lucent spaces. These structures resemble the secretory granules observed in human mast cells.</subfield>
