   <subfield code="a">In this paper, we present a simple spin coating synthesis of silver toroidal structures and particles on silicon wafer through a poly (vinyl alcohol)(PVA)-Ag composite system followed by calcination. The structures are confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectrum. The morphology of the silver films and the corresponding surface plasmon resonance absorption show that the silver torus is the key role for the NIR absorption. The results of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscope (AFM) detections show that, by controlling the ratio of PVA to AgNO3 and the spin rate, the silver torus can be obtained and the bands of silver film can be tuned from visible to ~810nm. This material has potential use in the field of bio-application and infrared sensors.</subfield>
