   <subfield code="a">Recently, theauthors have proposed a new necessary and sufficient condition for turnpike optimality in calculus of variations with singular Euler equation. The method is based on acharacterization of thevalue function and generalizes thewell known method based on theGreen theorem. Furthermore, it allows theoptimality of acompetition between several turnpikes to be characterized. For aclass of such problems not enjoying theturnpike property, we give an explicit formula for thevalue function and show how to characterize theoptimal solution as thelimiting solution of afamily of perturbed problems satisfying theturnpike property. The considered problems are scalar with infinite horizon.</subfield>
