   <subfield code="a">Despite the high quality of modern insulation systems, winding faults still represent the most frequent reason of outages of rotating electrical machines. When the damage is localized at one coil or a few adjacent coils, the user wishes to investigate the possibility of a provisional repair, in order to continue operation at least for a limited period of time. Up to now no reliable tools are available to predict the performance of a motor when one or more coils are disconnected from the winding train. This paper offers a new calculation method for all important performance characteristics (constant and pulsating torques, losses, current distribution, unbalanced magnetic pull) in case of winding asymmetries. The scheme covers all types of three-phase windings and all possible connection versions. The correctness of the computation results is thoroughly examined by many tests.</subfield>
