   <subfield code="a">Conclusions: The existence is demonstrated of a single curve describing the bond strength in powder compacts as a function of the specific regenerated surface, which is independent of the method of formation of the latter. At lower compaction temperatures, the single curve of σ b i /σ/ b max curve shifts downwards. This is due to the contact surfaces interacting through active centers, as a result of which, at equal extrusion ratios, the bond surface is smaller than the regenerated surface. Evidence in support of a model of solid-phase bonding at low compaction temperatures with the assistance of mechanical activation is provided by agreement between values of active center radii derived from experimental data and those reported in the literature and also by the character of their variation with increasing degree of deformation.</subfield>
