   <subfield code="a">Summary: We propose an, approach to multiple partonic interactions in which the collision amplitude is defined as a convolution of the elementary parton-parton scattering amplitude over the overlap functions between the initial and final states of the active partons. According to this approach we predict some features of the multiple hard collisions, among them a clean transition from a regime of &lt;&lt;low&gt;&gt; momentum transfers to one of &lt;&lt;high&gt;&gt; momentum transfers. Moreover we deduce the total &lt;&lt;hard&gt;&gt; cross-section, which we compare with the formulae obtained by other authors.</subfield>
