   <subfield code="a">Summary: The differential cross-sections for $$\bar p$$ inelastic scattering off12C at 46.8 and 180 MeV are calculated in the Tassie model with the optical potential of the Woods-Saxon type. Potential parameters deduced from the analysis of elastic $$\bar p$$ -nucleus scattering data have an ambiguity because of the strong absorption of antiprotons inside the nucleus. The inelastic scattering is sensitive to the slope of the potential at the surface layer, whereas the elastic scattering is sensitive to the potential value at the surface. There is a possibility to reduce the ambiguity of the potential to some extent, from the value and slope of the surface layer explored with the cross-sections both for elastic and inelastic scattering.</subfield>
