   <subfield code="a">Summary: We investigate the dynamics of the three-nucleon system in exclusive π0- and η0-meson production in pd scattering, between (1.5÷3) GeV. Within the framework of baryonic and mesonic degrees of freedom, we demonstrate that the selectivity of the two processes reveals interesting details on nuclearN *-resonances and three-body forces. Simple meson-exchange models, including two- and three-body currents, reproduce the main qualitative trends, at the expense, however, of a large number of parameters. Three-body forces dominate the dynamics of the three-nucleon system at very large momentum transfers&gt;1 GeV/c. Simplistic attempts to parametrize the dynamics in terms of the underlying quark structure are briefly discussed.</subfield>
