   <subfield code="a">Summary: We argue that it is not possible to use the current conservation law in its general form in the calculation of the electric multipole amplitudes for deuteron photodisintegration. It is possible, however, to use the well-known identity (for which we give the exact kinematics) relating the internal convection current density, the charge density for the nonrelativistic impulse approximation and the potential used to calculate the wavefunctions. We show that this identity leads to a reasonable approximation scheme for the calculation of the electric multipole amplitudes.</subfield>
