   <subfield code="a">A severe rot was found on the stems and roots of scarlet runner bean (Phaseolus coccineus) in Ibaraki Prefecture (Japan) in August 2004. The causal fungus was identified as Pythium myriotylum. We propose the name of stem and root rot of scarlet runner bean (&quot;Kuki-negusare-byo” in Japanese) for this new disease.</subfield>
