   <subfield code="a">The characteristics of a polarization optical isolator based on a liquid crystal cell as the spectrum-tunable quarter-wavelength plate are described. The investigated samples ensured an optical-isolation level of −30 dB for electronic tuning to an operating wavelength in the range 440-860 nm. Similar devices can be effective for automated spectroscopic systems intended for consecutive operation in various zones of the optical spectrum with the use of several diode lasers.</subfield>
