   <subfield code="a">Summary.: The ammoniates [Li(NH3)4]2As4, [Na(NH3)5]2As4 · 3NH3, and [Cs0.35Rb0.65(2,2,2-crypt)]2As4 · 2NH3 (2,2,2-crypt: 4,7,13,16,21,24-hexaoxa-1,10-diazabicyclo[8.8.8]hexacosan) were synthesised either by direct reduction of arsenic with Li(Ca)/Na in liquid ammonia or by reaction of Rb4As6 with CsPH2 in the same solvent. Single crystals were isolated and characterised by low temperature X-ray structure analysis. All three compounds contain As42− anions of almost square planar geometry which have no contacts to metal ions. The medium As-As bond length in the putatively aromatic anions is 2.362 Å.</subfield>
