   <subfield code="a">Conclusions: 1. Annealing of weld joints of 12KhGDAF steel with retarded cooling (110°C/h) leads to a significant increase in the stable fatigue crack growth rate both in the base metal and in the zone near the joint and the weld joint. With Δ&lt;1140 N/mm3/2 the highest crack propagation rate is characteristic of the joint metal. 2. Despite the significant refinement of the effective ferritic grain size in the weld joint in annealing, as the result of this treatment the grain boundaries are weakened, which causes stable fatigue crack propagation primarily according to the mechanism of brittle intergranular fracture. 3. Annealing of weld joints does not influence the amount of jump of fatigue crack in the stage of either stable or unstable growth. 4. For the purpose of suppressing reversible temper brittleness developing in retarded cooling of weld joints of 12KhGDAF steel it is desirable to cool them at a rate of more than 110°C/h in the 600-350°C range.</subfield>
