The use of the two-stage method of nitriding with cyclic supply of ammonia to the working space of the furnace provides acceleration of growth of the diffusion layer. The time of treatment of 38Kh2MYuA cylinder sleeves to a case depth of 0.55-0.65 mm is reduced by 15% and the ammonia consumption during the process by 40%. 2. The depth and hardness of the nitrided case of the cylinder sleeves after treatment in SNA-6.5·22·10/6M furnaces meet specification and the amount of residual deformation of the parts is not greater than after nitriding using the existing method. 3. The new method of nitriding may be recommended for hardened of a broad range of machine parts.</subfield>
