   <subfield code="a">Conclusions: 1. An increase in the length of M1 copper specimens occurs in thermal cycling treatment and the higher Tmax (in the investigated 500-680°C range), the greater the increase in length. The increase in specimen length depends upon its diameter. A decrease in diameter from 7 to 5 mm causes an increase in specimen length which is greater the higher Tmax, which is caused by quenching of the crystalline structure defects. 2. In thermal cycling treatment quenching of the vacancies, dislocations, and mixed atoms, accumulation of which leads to formation of defects in the form of pores, occurs. The pores, merging, form discontinuities at the grain boundaries and junctions. The maximum quantity of pores is observed in the center portion of the specimens. 3. The elongation of M1 specimens in thermal cycling treatment has a nonlinear character. Slowing of elongation of the specimens and in some cases even shortening of them are observed, which may be caused by formation of discontinuities at the grain boundaries.</subfield>
