   <subfield code="a">Summary: We study the quantum behaviour of a harmonic oscillator that undergoes the effect of a strong wave. This is done using the strong-field approximation where the order 0 is driven only by the external perturbation. It is shown that the wave function is just a superposition of coherent states labelled by an integer number. In a first approximation, such coherent states can be taken orthogonal so that the probability of finding the system in one of them is just the square of the Bessel function of order given by the number labelling the state. In terms of harmonic oscillator eigenstates, transition amplitudes are significant just for high values of the level numbers in the same approximation of orthogonality of the coherent states.</subfield>
