   <subfield code="a">Summary: The relationship between the commonly used definitions for a resonance referring either to the asymptotic features of the scattering (real energy) or to the Gamow-Siegert (complex energy) wavefunctions is studied. In a one-channel model this can be achieved by analytical continuation of the scattering amplitude, asymptotic phase shift and collisional time delay functions in the complex energy plane. A separate study of the real and imaginary parts of the scattering functions brings new and unexpected features which, particularly in the near resonanceregion, can be used as keys of a more accurate determination of resonance characteristics,i.e. energy and lifetime. In addition, in the close vicinity of the resonance the predictions of the model go beyond an isolated resonance approximation including background and overlapping resonances.</subfield>
