   <subfield code="a">It is suggested that the concept of the depolarization tensor usually introduced for an ellipsoid be generalized to arbitrary regions of space. It is demonstrated that the class of problems for which this concept is useful is sufficiently wide. Examples of calculations of the depolarization tensor for various 3D and 2D figures are presented.</subfield>
