   <subfield code="a">The possibilities of mathematical models of nuclear power plants and the application ranges of the models are expanding as a result of the greater capacity of computers and advances in computational methods. Work on development and improvement of research models for substantinting nuclear power plant safety is being conducted at the All-Russia Scientific-Research Institute of Nuclear Plants. A brief description of mathematical models of various systems and equipment in a nuclear power plant, which are implemented at the All-Russia Scientific-Research Institute of Nuclear Power Plants, primarily, in developing nuclear power plant simulators, is given. The mathematical models are based on the numerical integration of the equations that describe the physical processes occurring in the equipment of a nuclear power plant. Simulation is not used. This approach ensures that the mathematical models of simulators cover all regimes and that the accuracy of the models is high—the accuracy of the simulator models often approaches that of the research models. 5 figures, 1 table, 24 references.</subfield>
