   <subfield code="a">Conclusions: 1. The process of erosional intake of mud by means of a dredge is determined by the intensity of the eddy acting in the intake zone. 2. The natural effect of eddy motion in the intake zone with concentration of the soil particles in the central zone of the head can be used for thickening the mixture by sucking water from the outer channel of the coaxial MID. In this case it is possible to achieve not only thickening of the mixture but also an increase of soil output, proportional to the water output. 3. Field tests of coaxial MIDs revealed their prospects for substantially increasing the effectiveness of dredging. 4. It is advisable to continue studying the process of separating the solid phase from a suspension-ladened flow, using its eddy motion.</subfield>
