   <subfield code="a">We consider the problem of small motions of a system of thin layers of rotating ideal liquid and the problem of natural oscillations encountered in analyzing the initial boundary-value problem for a nonrotating system in the case where all physical quantities are set equal to one.. The equations and boundary conditions of the corresponding initial boundary-value problem are considered in the so-called shallow-water approximation in which the transverse dimensions of the layers are much smaller than the longitudinal dimensions and the motion of liquid occurs mainly in the horizontal direction. We study the main operator of a simplified problem appearing in the analysis of small motions of a system of thin layers of rotating ideal liquid.</subfield>
