   <subfield code="a">A system for performing hydrometeorological monitoring of the main parameters of the state of the water and air in the region of the Belorussian NPP is described. The purpose of this system is to secure radiological safety; it is implemented in interaction with an automated system for monitoring radiation conditions. The system monitors the state of water bodies, the atmosphere near the ground, and the atmospheric boundary layer and it includes five hydrological posts on the primary water bodies, a meteorological station, and a site for performing remote temperature and wind sensing in the atmospheric boundary layer. Yearly reports are prepared for all components of hydrometeorological monitoring and reports covering specified periods are prepared for interested organizations. The experience gained in organizing hydrometeorological monitoring could be helpful for territories on which other objects using atomic energy are present.</subfield>
