   <subfield code="a">The reactions of [Mo3S4(H2O)9]4+, [Mo3OS3(H2O)9]4+, [Mo3O2S2(H2O)9]4+, and [Mo3O3S(H2O)9]4+ with Na((C3H5N2S)3BH) (=NaTm, hydrotris(methimazolyl)borate) ligands produced [Mo3S4(Tm)3]Cl·2CH3OH·5H2O ([1]Cl·2CH3OH·5H2O), [Mo3OS3(Tm)3]Cl·CH3OH·6H2O ([2]Cl·CH3OH·6H2O), [Mo3O2S2(Tm)3]Cl·CH3OH·9H2O ([3]Cl·CH3OH·9H2O), and [Mo3O3S(Tm)3]Cl·CH3OH·6H2O ([4]Cl·CH3OH·6H2O), respectively. Hexafluorophosphate salts of the compounds [1]PF6·4CH3OH, [2]PF6·2CH3OH·4H2O, [3]PF6·CH3OH·2H2O, and [4]PF6·4CH3OH·3H2O have also been reported. Each molybdenum atom is bonded to the Tm ligand. All of the compounds (except cluster 3 and a chloride salt of cluster 4) have been structually characterized by X-ray structural analysis. The cyclic voltammograms of [1]PF6, [2]PF6, and [3]PF6 show one irreversible one-electron oxidation process (E pc (V): [1]PF6, 0.77; [2]PF6, 0.73; [3]PF6, 0.74, vs. SHE) and one reversible one-electron reduction process (E 1/2 (V): [1]PF6, −0.89; [2]PF6, −0.85; [3]PF6, −1.01, vs. SHE). The cyclic voltammogram of [4]PF6 shows one reversible one-electron oxidation process and one reversible one-electron reduction process (E 1/2 (V): [4]PF6, 0.76, −1.17, vs. SHE).</subfield>
