   <subfield code="a">Silver and gold nanoparticles, nanochains, nanonetworks and super clusters produced by pulsed laser ablation of solid silver and gold targets in double distilled water at room temperature and 70°C have been investigated using optical microscopy, optical absorption spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. Q-switched Nd:YAG laser with a pulsed duration of 5-6ns and operating at 532nm was used to ablate the targets placed in double distilled water. In all the experiments laser fluence was kept fixed at 5.09J/cm2 and 18,000 laser pulses were used to ablate the target in each case. Optical micrographs of gold reveal the formation of very interesting ring structures. Increase in the temperature of double distilled water promotes the fusion of nanoparticles leading to the formation of nanochains, nanonetworks and super clusters.</subfield>
