   <subfield code="a">Cation-templated self-assembly of 1,3-bis(4-methylpyridine)alkane cation with AgBr or AgI was studied and two new complexes were obtained: {(bmpp)[Ag2Br4]}n (1) and {(bmpp)[Ag4I6]}n (2) [bmpp=1,3-bis(4-methylpyridine)alkane cation]. Compounds 1-2 were characterized by elemental analysis, IR, TG, and X-ray crystallography. The two compounds have 1D chain structure. Furthermore, photocatalytic properties at ambient temperature were also investigated. Graphical Abstract: We report two new extend supramolecular polymers based on Ag(I) and 1,3-bis(4-methylpyridine)alkane cation. Compounds 1-2 have 1D chain structures. Furthermore, photocatalytic properties at ambient temperature were also investigated.</subfield>
