   <subfield code="a">In this study, we reported successful fabrication of the carbon nanofibers/gold nanoparticles (CNFs/Au) nanocomposite by noncovalent assembly, which was accomplished via two steps, firstly noncovalent functionalization of CNFs with polysiloxane and then noncovalent assembly of Au nanoparticles on the functionalized CNFs. The CNFs/Au nanocomposite was characterized by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and energy dispersive spectroscopy, respectively. The property of the synthesized CNFs/Au nanocomposite was explored by its catalytic reduction for 4-nitrophenol (4-NP). Our results demonstrate that the CNFs/Au nanocomposite can catalyze degradation of 4-NP from 100 to 11% during 240min. In addition, compared with the CNFs and Au nanoparticles, the CNFs/Au nanocomposite has higher catalytic activity during the reduction of 4-NP.</subfield>
