   <subfield code="a">A model for a flash-lamp pumped passively Q-switched solid state laser has been investigated. In this model, the pumping rate was considered as variable and dependent on the flash pump pulse shape and power. The time dependent flash discharge current was calculated and the optical time-dependent variation of the flash pulse was deduced. The simulation of the laser system was obtained as a numerical solution of this model. The laser output shape and characteristics were calculated and compared with experimental results.</subfield>
